- Write personal, well-crafted essays It’s your chance to show who you are and how you think in your own voice. An essay gives you the opportunity to reveal something unique about yourself.
- Take advantage of on and off campus interviews It’s a great way to learn more about the college and for the college to learn more about you. Let your personality shine through.
- Add a resume to your application Many schools encourage students to upload a resume within their application. If you have been deeply involved in extracurricular activities, held leadership positions, and/or achieved numerous awards or honors add a resume.
- Submit a portfolio or attach a link to a YouTube video If you have a special talent show it off! Whether you’re considering majoring in the visual or performing arts or just want to be part of an on campus ensemble submit your best work.
- Attend off-campus info sessions Many college representatives host regional off-campus info sessions. Take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about the school and show your interest.
- Meet with faculty If you’re visiting campus this fall, consider meeting with a faculty member in your academic area of interest to learn more about the major at that school.
- Attend a class on campus Sit in on a class or two to see what it is like to be a student at your top choice college. Contact the admissions office and see what classes are available for visiting students.
- Consider an official overnight visit If you’re thinking about applying early decision there’s no better way to get an insider’s look than spending 24-hours on campus. Attend classes, eat in the dining hall, and stay in a dorm with a student. Contact admissions to set up an official overnight.
